It isn’t happy people who are grateful, it is grateful people who are happy!

Energy is all around us! We cannot get away from it. It is literally in the fiber of our being! The body that you use to move around with every day, is pure energy! Your thoughts are energy. Your emotions are energy. Think about a time when you felt “low” on energy, or didn’t have “any energy.” We have all either felt it or thought it from time to time! Do you recall what your thoughts were during that time? I would be willing to bet they weren’t very positive!

Our thoughts and emotions play a big role in how we feel about ourselves, our lives, how we see our world, and how we act and participate in it. We are also more powerful than we realize! You have the power to control how you feel about yourself and the world around you! That power is choice! Thoughts are powerful! Thoughts lead to emotions! Emotions lead us to act, or not act! Your thoughts are a choice!

Be mindful of your thoughts. Do you pay attention to what you are thinking? Do you let your mind go wherever it wants to? Most people do!

If you want to experience a happier life by shifting your thoughts, a great place to start is with Gratitude! Each day, morning and/or night, write down 10 things you are grateful for. After each one, take a minute to feel the gratefulness feeling. Acknowledge it and be thankful for it! Some days, especially in the beginning for me, it was difficult to think of even one thing to be grateful for. At those times, I kept it simple. I was grateful for waking up, a good night sleep, running water, indoor plumbing. Over time, it became easier and things to be grateful for flowed from my pen. That is because the more you are grateful, the more things there are to be grateful for! You are training your mind to look for things to be grateful for! Give it try! Stick with it and you WILL feel the difference! It is amazing how this simple tool can help you shift your world!

If you catch yourself in a negative thought pattern, challenge yourself to “flip the script!” There is always something to be grateful for! You cannot control the world around you. But, you can control your thoughts, emotions and how you respond! That is where your power is!
